Bruce Ewen

It was a dark and stormy night… After eight years of classical piano and theory lessons, and inspired by the vocal harmonies of The Four FreshmenI, I began writing vocal charts for my college glee club (Ohio Wesleyan University), and then formed an a cappella quartet after I found a classmate that could sing as high as Bob Flanigan To pay for law school at the University of Toledo, I founded and played piano and wrote all the charts for vocal groups that featured lots of harmony. After passing the Ohio Bar and practicing with a law ?rm for about six months, I eschewed the law for music, did some vocal arranging for Leiber and Stoller in New York, played keyboards and wrote vocal charts at studios in Nashville, Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Houston where I was pianist and arranger for Freddy Fender's ?rst four albums. (Several of his songs were in the Billboard Top Ten). In 1975 I moved to Los Angeles where I was music director at various theaters, which involved re-writes of vocal charts, wrote vocal charts for clients of recording studios, did transcription (tape to paper) for orchestrates, and sang bass and wrote a lot of the a cappella vocal charts for a group of professional singers called the Caroling Company. In 1983, my wife and I moved to the northwest to raise our family away from LA. She is currently the artistic director at a community theater which she founded in Port Orchard, WA, I am the music director at a church in Port Orchard and also at the theater. For the past several years I've been working on a volunteer basis with Wayne Lackman playing piano and writing vocal charts for the Gig Harbor HS

"I love to see how music can uplift and inspire students. Music is not only physically, emotionally, and spiritually stimulating, but it can bring self confidence, peace, and contentment to one's soul, and add spice to life. It's a thrill for me to see students making honorable efforts to learn and progress, making music a priority in their lives, and then see them reap the benefits and rewards of their hard work. That's the greatest satisfaction for me as a teacher." Look forward to working with you!

Carol Holst

I began piano lessons when I was ten years old and started accompanying other musicians when I was fifteen or so. I graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas in 1986 with a degree in Piano Performance. Since then I've accompanied many musicians, several choirs, taught many piano students, and played for at least twenty Texas musical theater productions in Alvin, Galveston, and Houston. I moved to Gig Harbor July, 2016, and since then I've performed on piano and harp as a soloist, half of a duo (Two for the Show) and as a member of The Diamond Experience (Neil Diamond tribute band). I look forward to jamming with students and other teachers at All Star Music Academy. Looks like fun!
